Facilitated by Raimondo Cortese, this workshop focuses on creating scenes and dialogues for performance, theatre, film or TV. A series of exercises are employed to give participants an awareness of the unconscious, complex actions that underlie speech and human behaviour.

Initially, the aim is to get participants to write scenes through generative writing workshops in order to create dialogues and scenes that employ tasks. The focus is on seeing the dialogue in terms of what the actors/words are doing moment by moment. Improvisation will assist in teasing out hidden textures and possible directions. It encourages the writer/actor to see the creation of text as something fluid, which can be changed and worked on if necessary. It also encourages writers/actors to learn how to listen to others.

The most important thing is to encourage participants to play with their work, to enjoy it and not be bound by conventions, or what they assume is necessary for a scene to work.

This workshop is limited to participants who have an event confirmed as part of the Melbourne Fringe Festival 2025.
