Melbourne Fringe are very pleased to host two workshops faciliated by the amazing Bronwyn Pringle (multi-award winning lighting designer, teacher) focused on nailing the production components of your Fringe show. You can attend one session or both. This is a hands-on workshop and we recommend bringing your laptop (and charger), tech information, stationary to take notes with, and your questions!

More details below;

Production Skills for Performers - 1pm to 3pm

If you have ever struggled to communicate your ideas to production crews this workshop is for you.

We will start by looking at the venue specs for your fringe venue and decipher the technical jargon, then go on to look at the planning you can do to make your technical rehearsal (and your show) run as smoothly as possible.

We will look at how to write a cue synopsis, marking up your script and working out how you show is going to fit in the venue.

Bring along any info you have on your venue and ideas you have so far about the technical elements of your show. And most importantly, bring your questions. The last part of the workshop will be all about looking at the specifics of your show and how to make it work.

QLab Basics - 3.30pm to 4.30pm

QLab is a Mac only program that is industry standard for sound and video cuing. Many of the basic functions are totally free and it can make the running of your show really easy. Plus you can use it for rehearsals and get all your fades sorted without using the precious minutes of your technical rehearsal.

This workshop is limited to participants who have an event confirmed as part of the Melbourne Fringe Festival 2025.
